Alpha Pattern
This pattern illustrates a single organization using multiple workstreams and teams.
In this example there are five workstreams, each with two teams.
A workstream is responsible for delivering an initiative.
An initiative contains multiple epics, each spanning multiple work increments or sprints.
Each epic contains multiple stories, each one describing an individual piece of work to be delivered.
The backlog of work to be done shows the epics and sprints for a given team.
The active sprint shows the team's work in progress and provides a focal point for stand-ups, reviews and retrospectives.
It is easy to see active sprints and capacity at the portfolio level.
Although agile tooling originated in the context of software development, it is equally applicable across the enterprise, no matter what work type of artifacts are being delivered.
